1
Prepare your introduction. This should include biographical and professional information about yourself and something that quickly grabs the attention of your audience, such as an interesting fact or a humorous story. The introduction should also include a preview or synopsis of the speech.
-
2
Arrange the body of the speech. This portion of the presentation should contain your main arguments in favor of your position. Include the main arguments for and against your position and use logical reasoning to make your arguments.
-
-
3
Decide what approach to use in the body of the speech. You may use deductive or inductive reasoning and list the pros and cons of your main point. Begin with your weakest point and end with your strongest.
-
4
Prepare a conclusion. Your conclusion should recap your main points and make clear to the audience that your speech has ended.
-
5
Plan for a question-and-answer period following the speech. You should anticipate what the main arguments against your position are and plan a response to refute them. Review your speech format and look for any gaps in the information or logic that could be exploited by an opponent.
