How to Win in Blitzball

Blitzball is a sports video game that is a part of the "Final Fantasy X" universe. This game is played by characters in a recreational and professional aspect. The main character, Tidus, is a professional Blitzball player you control throughout the game. Blitzball will look like an underwater version of ice hockey. You will have the opportunity to create and develop a Blitzball team that you can use at various moments in "Final Fantasy X," Taking advantage of various tips and techniques will help you win every game of Blitzball.

  Select your preferred player movement option: Auto, Manual A or Manual B.

Tips & Warnings

You can recruit players by talking to them throughout the game. Approach a character and press the square button to see their Blitzball attributes. Only characters that play the game will have any information available. If the character has the abilities you need, you can then sign them to a contract. As with all athletes, players will request salaries to play for your Blitzball team. You can negotiate the salary of each player to make it affordable. The more games you win, the more money you will be able to spend on player salaries. The best players will also request the largest salaries. Player attributes are important during a game of Blitzball. You want to recruit players that have a high amount of Hit Points (HP) and are effective in specific positions. For example, if you need defenders for your team, recruit players that have high Endurance (EN) and blocking (BL). Mix and match your roster to find the most-effective combination of players. Some players will learn special techniques they can use during the game. These techniques include special shots and maneuvers to get past opposing players. When you are in control of a character with such techniques they will appear as options when you pass, shoot or tackle opposing players.
Pay attention to your character's HP during the Blitzball game. As their HP count lowers, they will not be as effective shooting shots or playing defense against opposing players. Avoid shooting the ball from far distances. The friction with the water will cause the ball to slow down and give the goalie a better chance to block the shot. Your players may become affected with status aliments during the game. Use items to recover them from the ailment.
