How to Write a Fashion Boutique Event Press Release

An event at your fashion boutique is an ideal way to get new customers into your store to check out the merchandise, but without proper advertising, no one will know when to show up. An effective press release is a short informational article written in the third person to explain what your fashion event is being used for, who will be there and types of festivities guests should expect. Once you complete the press release, send the information to various media to get the word out.

Instructions

    • 1

Format the press release correctly for easy reading. Write "For Immediate Release" at the top center of the page. Place the Immediate Release notification directly below the company image or text of your logo if you have one.

    • 2

Select the left alignment tab on the Word document, and write in your contact information. Use single spacing to write the business name, address, contact name, telephone and email address -- one line for each piece of information.

    • 3

Write the headline for the event in capital letters, using the center alignment tab, two spaces down from the contact information. Keep the headline direct and informative, giving the basics of the event.

    • 4

Complete the body of the press release with three to four paragraphs about the event. Answer the basic questions -- who, what, when, where, why and how -- in the first paragraph. Use the remaining paragraphs to add details of the fashion event.

    • 5

Conclude the press release with "For more information contact ...." Give your name, phone number and email address.

    • 6

Send the press release to newspapers, radio and TV stations at least a week in advance of your event. Most media outlets prefer email press releases, but faxes and postal mail are also acceptable.

Tips & Warnings

  • Check for spelling and grammar errors before submitting your press release to the media.

  • Limit the press release to a single page.

  • Never use "I" or "We" in a press release.
