How to Update My Facebook Status With My TracFone

Facebook offers a service for users of cellular handsets to manage their Facebook profile through Short Message Service (SMS). Referred to as "Facebook Mobile," the service receives updates on Facebook messages, Wall posts, comments on your status, friend requests and status updates from specified friends. The service allows you to update your status with a text message. Check which carrier your TracFone is contracted with before setting up Facebook Mobile, as you will need this information for the configuration process.

Instructions

1. Go to Facebook, type the email address and password associated with your account in the corresponding text fields and press Enter to log in.

2. Click "Account" in the top right and select "Account Settings."

3. Select the "Mobile" tab and click "Register for Facebook Text Messages."

4. Click the "Choose a Carrier" drop-down menu and select the carrier of your TracFone. TracFones use one of three carriers. Click "Next." If you use a GSM model, your carrier is either AT&T or T-Mobile. If you use a CDMA model, your carrier is Verizon.

5. Open the SMS app on your TracFone and text the letter "F" to "32665." Facebook receives your text and returns a confirmation code.

6. Type the confirmation code sent to your TracFone in the "Confirmation Code" text field. Click "Next." Facebook displays a series of options for the SMS feature. Configure the options to your needs and click the "Save Preferences" to finalize the SMS settings with your TracFone.

7. Open the SMS app on your TracFone and text messages to "32665" to post updates to your Facebook Wall.
