How to Get Thinner Eyebrows

How to Get Thinner Eyebrows thumbnail
An eyebrow brush can help thin and shape your eyebrows.

Well-groomed eyebrows draw attention to your face and accentuate your eyes. If your eyebrows are wild and bushy, you can have them waxed, threaded or tweezed into a thinner shape. However, eyebrow hairs grow back, so you will have to repeat the hair removal process to keep them groomed. You can save money and discomfort by thinning your brows yourself, right at home. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

  1. Thinning Eyebrows without Hair Removal

    • 1

Find an eyebrow stencil in a thin shape that flatters your face. Use a high-arched eyebrow stencil to give a round face the illusion of length. Opt for a flat-shaped eyebrow stencil to shorten a long face. Minimize sharp angles of a heart-shaped face with round eyebrow stencils and enhance an oval face with a soft-angled eyebrow stencil.

    • 2

Hold your eyebrow brush vertically along your left nostril so it points toward your forehead. Mark the spot where it touches your eyebrows with your eyebrow pencil. This is where your eyebrow will start. Move the outer point of the brush diagonally so it passes the outer corner of your left eye. Mark your brow with eyebrow pencil as this is the ending point.

    • 3

Brush water through your brows with your eyebrow brush. Wet hair is easier to manage and shape.

    • 4

Position your eyebrow stencil over your eyebrow. Align the beginning and end of the stencil with the marks you previously made.

    • 5

Pull your eyebrow hairs through the stencil opening using your eyebrow comb. Slightly lift the stencil if needed to reach the top hairs of your eyebrows and pull them through the opening. Do the same for the bottom hairs.

    • 6

Shape the hairs according to the stencil outline. Comb in the direction of the hair growth. Push the upper hairs down and the lower hairs up so a thin line is formed in the shape of the eyebrow stencil.

    • 7

Set the eyebrow hairs with hair spray. Apply hair spray to your eyebrow comb and swipe it through your eyebrow hairs while making sure not to distort the shape of your new brow.

    • 8

Peel the stencil away from your eyebrow. Use eyebrow powder in the color of your brow hairs to accentuate or to fill in sparse areas. Extend the brow with eyebrow powder if it doesn't reach the ending point you previously marked. Repeat the process on your other eyebrow.

    Thinning Eyebrows with Tweezers

    • 9

Find a thin eyebrow stencil to your liking and determine the beginning and ending points of your eyebrows.

    • 10

Comb your brow hairs upward and trim the longer hairs with eyebrow scissors.

    • 11

Place the thin-shaped eyebrow stencil over your brow and outline it with eyebrow pencil. Remove the stencil. If you don't have an eyebrow stencil you can manually draw a thin eyebrow over your brow hairs with eyebrow pencil.

    • 12

Tweeze the hairs in between your eyebrows. Hold the skin taut with the fingers of one hand and tweeze the hairs with the other hand. Pull the hairs out, one at a time, in the direction they are growing.

    • 13

Remove the hairs underneath and at the outside corner your eyebrow that are outside of the stencil outline.

    • 14

Use brow powder in a tint similar to your hairs to accentuate your brows. Brush eyebrow gel through your brows to hold them in place. Repeat the process on your other eyebrow.
