Prescribed by doctors to help ease discomfort, you apply pain patches directly to the skin near the painful location. This allows for quicker absorption of the medication to the problem area. Pain patches use an adhesive to adhere itself to the skin. After you have removed the patch, some adhesive or its residue may remain on your skin. If soap and warm water does not remove the adhesive, you can use a few common household items to rid your skin of the adhesive.
Things You'll Need
- Olive oil
- Soft cloth
Apply several drops of olive oil to a clean, soft cloth.
Rub the adhesive with the cloth dampened in olive oil. Rub gently in a circular motion. Add more olive oil to the cloth if needed and continue rubbing until you have removed all traces of the adhesive.
Wash the olive oil off your skin with warm, soapy water. Rinse your skin clean with cool water and dry with a towel.
Wash your hands thoroughly with warm, soapy water after handling the patch or coming in contact with its residue. Rinse your hands with cool water and towel dry.
Tips & Warnings
- You can replace olive oil with baby oil or lotion.
