How to Change My Bing Password

Bing is Microsoft's Web search engine, which you can access without login information. However, you can also create news alerts, add maps and save your search history if you log in. Logging in to Bing also allows you to participate in a rewards program that provides credits that can be used at participating merchants when you search. The registration and subsequent login process is managed through Microsoft's Windows Live ID, which is the same ID used for Hotmail, Messenger and Xbox LIVE.

  • Visit the Windows Live website. Enter the characters you see on the screen into the Captcha-like text box, and press "Continue."

  • Click on your Windows Live User ID, which appears on the resulting Web page. Click on "Account" in the drop-down that appears.

  • Click on "Password" and enter your old and desired new password. You can also choose a 72-day expiration option for the new password, request a reminder of your old password or verify the new password strength. When you are ready to continue, press the "Save" button.

  • Log in to the Bing website by clicking on the "Sign In" link at the top of the Bing page.

  • Choose "Sign in with Windows Live," and enter your Windows Live ID and new password. If you are re-directed back to the Bing homepage, and your User ID appears at the top of the page, your login was successful.
