How to Uninstall Sun Java JRE 1.6

The Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) provides extensive support for Java-based animations, typically consisting of demonstrations and games over Web browsers. The Java JRE applet is fully functional under multiple operating systems and browsers, thus providing a high level of compatibility. If such a feature is not required, however, you may effectively uninstall it from your Windows 7-based operating system.

Instructions

    • 1

Close any active Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox.

    • 2

Click "Start," followed by "Control Panel."

    • 3

Click "Programs," followed by "Programs and Features."

    • 4

Select the Java version currently installed on your computer, such as "Java 6 Update 25."

    • 5

Click "Uninstall," and then click "Yes" to proceed. Allow the removal process to complete, which may take several minutes.
