How to Create a Heart on Facebook

How to Create a Heart on Facebook thumbnail
Facebook symbols work on profiles or in chat.

Facebook symbols that express emotion, sometimes referred to as emoticons, can be incorporated into comments or status updates on the social networking site. You can use emoticons to express happiness, sadness or to show affection to your friends. The heart symbol is created using two symbols found on any keyboard -- once you create the symbol and officially post the comment, Facebook translates your keystrokes into the image of an actual heart.

Instructions

    • 1

Click into the "What's on your mind?" field at the top of the Facebook homepage or the "Write a comment" field beneath a post.

    • 2

      Type a "<" followed by a "3." The resulting symbol is "<3".

    • 3

Hit "Enter" to send the comment. Facebook translates your symbol into an actual heart when the comment posts.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can enter text either before or after your heart symbol to incorporate the heart as part of a larger message.
