How to Reset a LiveZilla Admin Password

Save

LiveZilla is a free support program for website administrators and support professionals. Signing into the LiveZilla administration panel lets you customize and oversee your LiveZilla support page. If you've forgotten your admin password, you'll have to manually change the password in the LiveZilla database. It is not possible for LiveZilla to recover the old password for you. LiveZilla uses MD5 encryption for its passwords, but you can obtain an encryption key with ease.

  • Use an MD5 encryption generator to generate an encrypted password for your LiveZilla account. There are several free websites you can use to do this. Simply type your password into the encryption box and click "Convert" or "Encrypt." Copy the encrypted password that's generated.

  • Access your website server using your web host's online FTP program, or an outside FTP program like FileZilla. If using an outside FTP program, you'll need your website's IP address, server username and password. Contact your web host if you do not have this information readily available.

  • Open the directory labeled "_internal." Inside the directory you'll find files for each user. Open the file containing the username of your administrator account (this may be labeled admin by default).

  • Scroll through the text to find the encrypted code next to "Password." Replace the old encrypted password with the new one. Save the changes to the file.

  • Access your LiveZilla administrator account with the new password.
