How to Sew a Patch on a Pant's Hole
Even well-made pants begin to wear out at the knees after they have been worn many times, especially if worn a lot while kneeling. After the areas wear thin they will eventually wear right through and a hole will appear in the fabric. If the rest of the pants are in good condition, it would be wasteful to throw them away when the hole can be easily patched. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need

1
Use the tape measure to measure the length and width of the hole in the jeans. Cut a piece of fabric slightly larger than the dimensions of the hole, 1/4-inch wider and longer.
-
2
Fold over 1/4-inch along all four sides of the patch. Using a straight stitch on the sewing machine, stitch the folded down edges on all four sides.

3
Place the patch over the hole, centering it over the area. Pin into place. With the right side of the pants facing out, stitch the patch to the jeans. Use a straight stitch and stitch close to the stitching done in Step 2. Clip the threads close to the machine needle.
