How to Add Blank Lines in HTML

Hypertext markup language--or HTML--is coding for webpages. Tags are used in HTML code to do something such as insert a line and the “<” symbol distinguishes them from other code. Inserting a line break, or a blank line in HTML, requires a
tag. Most codes require an end tag as well but in HTML, this one does not. Using it will insert a blank line wherever you put it.

  • Locate the area of the HTML code where you would like a blank line to be.

  • Type “
    ” without the quotations.

  • Save the code to add a blank line in HTML.
