How to Know If Castor Oil Is Pure
Castor oil is a plant-derived oil that is created from the seeds of the castor bean plant. Castor oil is a beneficial plant extract that can be used as a laxative. It also has other health and beauty benefits including clearing acne and hydrating dry hair. When purchasing, look for 100 percent pure castor oil, as this will not contain filler oils from other vegetable sources.
The castor bean is also used to make toxic ricin.

1
Read the label.
The front label will be emblazoned with the words "100% Pure." Check the ingredients list to confirm that nothing other than castor oil is in the container.
-
2
Opt for cold-pressed castor oil whenever possible.
Because it is extracted from the castor bean seed at low temperatures, this method damages the oil the least, as compared to other extraction methods. Another phrase you may see instead of cold-pressed is expeller pressed, which usually means the same thing.

3
Engage your senses.
Castor oil that is 100 percent pure will be virtually tasteless, and will also have no odor.
