How to Increase the Laptop Screen Resolution

Your screen resolution dictates how large or small text and images appear. A larger screen resolution makes text and images smaller, but it increases the amount of space available for items and makes them sharper. A smaller screen resolution makes items larger, but has a tendency to make them appear jagged. Microsoft's Windows operating system allows you to modify the screen resolution as necessary but is limited to the capabilities of your video card.

  • Click the Windows Start button on the left side of the task bar, and select "Control Panel."

  • Click "Adjust screen resolution" located under "Appearance and Personalization."

  • Click the drop down arrow next to "Resolution."

  • Move the slider up to increase the screen resolution or down to decrease it. You can only adjust it as much as your video card allows.
