How to Register for an MSN Name
Windows Live Messenger, previously MSN Messenger, is an instant messaging program from Microsoft Corporation that allows your friends and family to communicate with you by text, audio or video messaging. To log in to Windows Live Messenger, you need to register for a Windows Live ID, which consists of a username and a password. You can register for a Windows Live ID in just a few steps.

Open your Internet browser and go to the "Sign Up" page from Windows Live. You can find a link to that page in the Resources section of this article.

Click on the "Sign up" button.

Choose whether you want to create a new email address with Microsoft's Hotmail service or use an existing address and then click on "Continue."

Fill in the registration form. You will need to create a password and a password reset question. If you have opted to create a new email address in Step 3, you will also have to type in your personal details, such as your first and last names and country of residence.

Review and accept the Windows Live terms of use and privacy statement. Click on the "I accept" button. You have now created your Windows Live ID.
