Decorate your binder with a piece of ribbon.

Many people enjoy three-ring binders not because they help with organization, but because they can be personalized. While some prefer to illustrate or put personal photos on them, it's also possible to tie on a decorative piece of ribbon. The ribbon will make your binder stand out in the crowd, allowing you to identify it more easily. It can also add flair to three-ring binders used for organizing events and special occasions. Fortunately, this project only requires a few supplies and just minutes of your time.

Purchase decorative ribbon that measures 1/2 inch wide. It should reflect your taste or the aesthetic of the project you're working on. For example, if you're creating a binder to help organize a baby shower, choose soft pastel colored ribbon. Two different ribbon options will provide contrast. You can use up to four different types of ribbon.

Cut strips of ribbon that measure 4 inches long using a pair of scissors. This is just enough length so that the ribbon will hang effectively without the possibility of it getting caught onto other things. For each spool of ribbon, you will need three strips of ribbon. That's a total of six strips for two spools.

Tie a strip of ribbon from the first spool onto each of the three rings by wrapping the ribbon around the ring once and pulling it through itself twice to form a small knot. Repeat this process using three strips of ribbon from each spool you're using.

Take a look at the binder and decide whether or not you'd like to add more ribbon to it. To create a pom-pom effect, you could crowd each ring with several of the strips of ribbon. You might also decide that you'd like to just place more ribbons on one ring rather than all three.
