How to Check My Electric Rates at DP&L

DP&L is an abbreviation of Dayton Power & Light an electric company providing service to residents of Dayton, Ohio, and surrounding areas. As with most electric companies DP&L's rates will vary from time to time. If you want to find out exactly how much money you're being charged for electrical use by DP&L, you can do so using your bill.

  • Obtain a copy of your most recent DP&L utility bill. You will receive this bill in the mail once a month. You can also request a copy of the bill by contacting DP&L customer service.

  • Look at the Transmission Related Charges category on the second page of your DP&L bill. This is the total dollar amount of money you were charged, disregarding service fees, for electricity in a single month from DP&L. Look at the table next to this category to find out the total number of kilowatt hours you were billed for during the current month.

  • Divide the Transmission Related Charges dollar amount by the total number of kilowatt hours you were billed for during the current month. The dollar amount you get is the electric rate per kilowatt hour.
