How to Make a Two Color Bow

A matching bow completes a gift-wrapped package by adding a special flourish of color, texture and, sometimes, sparkle. Bows come in a variety of sizes, colors and patterns, just like the ribbons used to construct them. You can make your gifts stand out by creating custom bows featuring two different colors or patterns of ribbons.

Things You'll Need

  • Two different colored 1 1/2-inch wide ribbon
  • Ruler
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun
  • Double-sided tape
  • Cut six lengths of ribbon, measuring 4 inches, 5 inches and 14 inches from one colored ribbon and 10 inches, 18 inches and 22 inches from the other colored ribbon roll.

  • Place the 4-inch ribbon strand to the side to use later. Form individual loops with the rest of the ribbon strands. Use a hot glue gun to glue each loop together at its center.

  • Place the looped ribbons one on top of the other by size order, starting with the largest loop at the base.

  • Take the 4-inch ribbon, and wrap it around the center of the stacked loops. Cut the ribbon shorter if necessary before using a hot glue gun to secure the ribbon’s end to the bottom side of the bow. Your two-colored bow is now complete to place on a gift-wrapped package, using double-sided tape.
