A recovery disc allows you to boot your Windows operating system to a bootable diagnostic environment. Recovery discs are useful for troubleshooting boot errors and other problems the operating system might have. You can also access the System Restore feature from the recovery disc. Windows has a built-in utility that allows you create a recovery disc for your computer.

      Insert an external storage device such as a DVD, CD, or USB flash drive into your computer.

      Click the "Start" button.

      Type "Recdisc.exe" in the search box and click the "Recdisc.exe" icon. This will open the "Create a System Repair Disc" dialogue box.

      Click the drive you inserted the disc and click "Create Disc." When you restart your computer, you will be able to boot from your recovery disc.
