How to Troubleshoot No Sound on the Internet

Many web sites contain embedded media. This includes a variety of sites such as those that contain video streams or online radio stations. In other cases, sounds are configured to play when you press function buttons on certain pages. If the sound works when you play the media stored on your computer but fails to work when you try to play any sounds on Internet-based pages, the problem is likely related to your browser's media settings. You can enable sound on web pages within your browser's multimedia options.

Instructions

1. Press "Windows-R" to open a Run dialog box.

2. Type "Inetcpl.cpl" in the Run box and click "OK." This opens the browser options.

3. Click the "Advanced" tab. Scroll down to the "Multimedia" section in the Settings section.

4. Click to place a check mark in the box next to "Play sounds in webpages."

5. Click "Apply," then click "OK" to save and close.
