How to Make a Showgirl Costume Out of Feathers

Transform yourself into a glamorous Las Vegas showgirl with just a few easy steps. More than beads or sequins, feathers are an essential component to any costume. Though many costume stores sell pre-made showgirl outfits, prices can run for over several hundred dollars. Additionally, if you make the costume yourself you are guaranteed to have a perfect fit with a color scheme and style that will make you feel confident!

Things You'll Need

• Hot glue gun
• Bikini top and bottom
• Colorful feathers
• Beads
• Needle
• Thread

Instructions

1. Hot glue gun feathers on the front of an old bikini bottom. Let dry before turning over and repeating the process. Make sure to layer several rows of feathers toward the bottom of the back to fan out like a peacock tail.

2. Glue most of the remaining feathers to the bikini top. Sew or glue beads along the straps for added sparkle.

3. Pin your hair into an updo and ad the leftover feathers to the back, mimicking a peacock tail.

4. Wear heavy makeup, nude tights, heels and costume jewelry for added effect.

Tips & Warnings

• Be careful not to burn yourself when using the hot glue gun. Don't forget to unplug it.
