Instructions for the Sew Easy Knitting Machine by NSI

Save

The Sew Easy Knitting Machine, suitable for people 8 years of age and older, uses a hand crank to knit yarn that is threaded properly on hooks. The machine produces knitted tubes for making hats, mittens or legwarmers as well as flat pieces for scarves. NSI International Inc. also provides instructions and patterns to knit dolls and handbags. The company will email illustrated instructions and patterns upon request. In the meantime, prepare your yarn by rolling it into a ball to prevent tangling, then practice threading and knitting tubes and flat pieces.

Thread the Machine and Knit a Tube

  • Remove the top handle from the unit.

  • Clip the tension arm together with the arm slot, located on the bottom front of the unit.

  • Move the switch to the down position. The switch is located on the front of the unit between the handle and the tension arm area.

  • Feed the end of the yarn through the center of the unit from the top.

  • Hook the yarn onto the first raised hook to the left of the feeder. The feeder is the slotted piece located on the top rim of the unit. There should be 6 to 8 inches of yarn hanging through the center.

  • Turn the handle clockwise and hook the yarn onto every other hook as it rises. Make sure to turn the handle slowly.

  • Guide the yarn through the feeder slot once you have reached the last hook. Hold the yarn taut and slowly turn the handle clockwise for about five stitches.

  • Lift the tension arm to the raised position, thread the yarn over the top of the arm, then through the next three openings until the yarn hangs from the bottom.

  • Attach the handle to the top.

  • Turn the handle clockwise until the knitted tube is the desired length.
