How to Make a Statue Costume

Save

Statutes are one of the oldest forms of art in human history; you can see them in museums and parks all over the world. Near many museums, you may also observe street performers dressed as living statues, according to Street Entertainers. "Human statues" have a long history in European street theater, and their costumes are often very realistic. You can create a statue costume for a Halloween or costume party, and it's easier than you might think.

Things You'll Need

  • Long blonde wig
  • Wig stand
  • White ribbon, 1/2-inch wide, 12 inches long
  • Can of white spray paint
  • White fabric, 3 yards
  • Scissors
  • White leotard and tights, long-sleeve
  • Brooch, spray-painted white
  • White sash
  • Costume make-up, white
  • White gloves
  • White sandals
  • Put the wig on the wig stand. Tie up hair loosely in the style of a Greek statue, with loose curls and tendrils, with the white ribbon. Spray-paint the wig, covering it well. Let it dry.

  • Spray-paint the sandals inside and out. Let dry.

  • Cut the fabric to the height of the wearer plus 12 inches and to the width of the full open arm-span.

  • Put on the leotard and tights.

  • Fold the top 12 inches of the material to the front. Wrap the material around your body under your arms, from left to right, pulling it tight under your left arm. Pin over the right shoulder with the brooch. Belt with the sash.

  • Cover your face with the white make-up. Go well beyond the hairline of the wig and the neckline of the leotard.

  • Put on your gloves and sandals.
