Dread falls, which look like dreadlocks, can give you more freedom than real dreadlocks, which are difficult to put in and can be removed only through shaving. Buying enough dread hair falls for an entire head of hair can be expensive, so you may want to create your own out of synthetic hair. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Loop a portion of the synthetic hair, of about a pencil's thickness, around the top hook of the coat hanger. Fasten it in place by either tying a knot or clipping it. To work in a comfortable position, try pressing the hanger against the floor with your feet while creating the dread.

    • 2

Back-comb the hair. Do this by holding onto the end and combing back towards the part where it is fastened to the coat hanger. This will create a "fluffy" effect.

    • 3

Twist the hair around, starting from the part attached to the hanger. This creates the dreadlock appearance.

    • 4

Fix the shape by blasting the hair with heat from the hairdryer.

    • 5

Fasten the dread to your hair by either tying it to your actual hair using a small elastic band or incorporating the dread into a braid close to your scalp.
