How to Make a Snowflake Costume

Transform yourself or a child into a winter wonderland with a snowflake costume.

Few things are prettier than softly falling, glittery snowflakes. A snowflake costume is a costume idea that has several purposes. It is ideal for Christmas or holiday pageants, and it can also work as an unusual Halloween costume. Making a snowflake costume is very simple, and takes less than one day to complete. Soon you or a child can be transformed into a glittery, wintery snowflake. Older children can even help make their own snowflake costume.

Things You'll Need

• Large cardboard box
• Scissors
• White, blue and glitter spray paint
• Thin elastic
• Hole punch
• White shirt and pants
• White shoes
• Glitter face paint and hair spray (optional)

Instructions

1. Draw the outline of a snowflake onto the cardboard. Make the snowflake design at least as large as the person's body. You can make the design as basic or as detailed as you want. Make two snowflakes the same shape. Cut the snowflake design out.

2. Take the snowflakes outside. Paint the snowflakes in one coat of blue paint. Allow the paint to dry for one hour. Paint the snowflakes with one coat of white paint over the blue paint. Allow the coat to dry for one hour. Paint the snowflakes with one last coat of glitter paint to simulate a sparkling snowflake.

3. Flip the snowflakes over and paint the other side. Make sure to paint the sides of the cardboard as well. Allow the snowflakes to dry for one hour per coat of paint.

4. Punch two holes in each side of both snowflakes with a hole punch. Punch through the cardboard so that the holes sit across the shoulders. Thread a piece of elastic between both sides of the cardboard snowflakes and knot the ends. The snowflakes should sit over the shoulders like a sandwich board.

5. Put on a white shirt and pants. Wear white shoes and socks. Decorate your face and hair with glitter paint to enhance the glittery, snowy appearance.
