How to Host a DotA Without uTorrent

DotA (Defense of the Ancients) is a modified scenario of the Warcraft III computer game. You can play this game online with other players, but all players must have the same maps and modifications installed for it to work. The uTorrent program is a peer to peer file sharing program that allows you to host torrents for download online. However, if you want to host the DotA files without using uTorrent, you can use other online hosting options.

Instructions

  1. Free Hosting Service

    • 1

Go to a free file hosting website such as File Factory, File Dropper or MediaFire (see Resources). These sites allow you to use their upload services without signing up for an account.

    • 2

Click the "Browse" or "Upload" button on the webpage.

    • 3

Browse your computer for the DotA file you want to host, then double click it.

    • 4

Confirm the upload and allow the hosting service to transfer the data to the server. When this is complete, the hosting service will provide you with a URL address.

    • 5

Share the URL address with other users to allow them to download the DotA file.

    Paid Web Hosting

    • 6

Launch a FTP program on your computer.

    • 7

Log in using the administrator information for your web hosting account.

    • 8

Navigate to the folder where your DotA file is stored on your computer in the local pane of the FPT window.

    • 9

Navigate to the folder on the web host server where you would like to store the file. Make note of this folder so that you will know the URL address of the files.

    • 10

Click the transfer button and allow the FTP program to upload the files to your web host.

    • 11

Share the URL address to the files on your host to allow them to download the DotA files.
