How to Troubleshoot an RCA Thomson Phone Intercom

The RCA Thompson phone system is an addition to any office. Multi-line functionality makes it ready for professional use, while the built-in intercom adds convenience to inter-office communication. It's a good idea to learn how to troubleshoot simple issues that the phone may encounter. You can can troubleshoot the phone or its individual features like the intercom if they're not working.

Instructions

1. Unplug and plug in the phone line from the "Line 1" port on the phone. If line 1 is not connected properly, even if all other lines are connected, the intercom will not function.

2. Assign all phones being used with the Thompson system their own "station numbers." If you are not sure if every phone has been assigned a station number or not, it's better to remove all doubt by reassigning station numbers to all the phones.

3. Inspect the phone line connections to each of the phones that are part of the intercom system, particularly the phones that are not working with the phone intercom. Replug any telephone cables that may have come loose and test the intercom to see if that resolves the issue.
