When you refill your Canon MF 8180 ink cartridge, the printer still recognizes it as being empty. Resetting the computer chip on the ink cartridge will let the printer know that ink cartridge is full and allow you to print new pages with it. Use a Canon chip resetter to reset your Canon MF 8180 ink cartridges.

      Open the lid on the printer and take the ink cartridge out of the carrier holder.

      Slide the ink cartridge into the chip resetter with the chip on the ink cartridge facing in. Push it down so that the metal contact plate comes into contact with the chip. The red LED light will flash quickly, indicating that contact has been made.

      Wait for the LED light to flash red for two to three seconds. This indicates that the chip has been reset.

      Separate the ink cartridge from the chip resetter and place it back in the printer. Print a test page to ensure that the ink cartridge is working.
