1
Measure the jersey's height and width. The shadow box frame should extend at least 2 inches beyond the height and width of the jersey. If you want the jersey's sleeves to show in the frame, make sure to measure the width with the sleeves extended out.
-
2
Iron the jersey following the directions on the jersey's tag. Spray your jersey with a light mist of starch as you iron to help it hold its flat, wrinkle-free form.

3
Lay the jersey front side up on the velvet or foam backing board that came with the shadow box frame.
-
4
Lift up the jersey's collar carefully and insert a pin just below the collar through the back of the jersey and into the backing board.
-
5
Place a pin in the end of each shoulder, going through the back of the shirt from the inside and into the backing board. Pin from the inside so that the pins will not be visible in the finished product.
-
6
Lift up the front of the bottom half of the jersey and pin one of the back bottom corners to the backboard. Do the same on the other corner. Repeat this step so that two pins are securely holding the jersey's bottom half to the board.
-
7
If your jersey has sleeves that you want to display, place one pin inside the cuff of each sleeve and attach the pin to the backing board. If you would rather the sleeves not show, you can pin them behind the body of the jersey. Snap the backing board into the frame and hang.

Tips & Warnings
Jersey fabric often has small holes that are visible on close inspection. If possible, pin through those holes in the fabric.
Stainless steel is rust resistant, so only use this kind of pin for framing jerseys.
