Anyone can play this simple game.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Draw a large # on a piece of paper.

  2. Step 2

Choose which player will be represented by X and which by O.

  3. Step 3

Let player X go first. He or she may put an X in any of the nine sections of the grid.

  4. Step 4

    Have player O go next.

  5. Step 5

Alternate until either there are three in a row of one symbol or the grid is filled and no one has won.

  6. Step 6

Let the winner be X next time.

Tips & Warnings
  • The center space is arguably the best one to get first.
  • Starting in an outside middle square can be a bad move if you have a clever opponent.
  • It's said to be a "cat's game" when no one wins.

on 7/4/2009 Top line: 0 1 2,
Middle line: 3 4 5,
Bottom line: 6 7 8,
Play (0, 7)(5, 3) then 8. Your opponent is trapped.
If your opponent didn't play (..., 7) then just rotate the board in your head.

on 2/8/2006 You can also take a middle and another middle for even more chances... just experiment and find a good strategy with those.

on 11/22/2005 Start in one of the corners, and the next turn get another corner. From there, you can double trap your opponent.
