How to Remove a Sliver With a Banana Peel

Save

Bananas have many benefits for the body. They contain high levels of vitamins and minerals and are a great source of potassium. Once the banana is eaten, there are practical uses for the peel. One of the uses for the banana peel is to remove wood slivers in the skin.

Things You'll Need

  • Antibacterial soap
  • Water
  • Medical tape or Band-aid
  • Banana peel
  • Scissors

Wash area with soap

  • Wash the area with the wood sliver with an antibacterial soap.

  • Cut a section of the banana peel slightly larger than the area of the sliver.

  • Place the banana peel over the area of the sliver. Cover the peel with tape or a band-aid and leave overnight. The enzymes in the banana peel will dissolve the sliver.

Tips & Warnings

  • If the area around the sliver is red or warm, there may be an infection. See your doctor.
