Log on to Steam. Once logged on, your copy of Counter-Strike should begin updating automatically. If not, proceed to Step 2.

Right-click on "Counter-Strike" in your Steam Library, then select "Properties."

    • 3

Select the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify Inteigrity of Game Cache." This will scan your game files to make sure there are no errors. If errors are found, Steam will delete those files and download replacement files. If this fails to remedy the problem, proceed to Step 4.

Delete the game off your hard drive and reinstall it via Steam. Do this by right-clicking on "Counter-Strike" in your list of games and selecting "Delete Local Game Content." This will delete the game. Once deleted, right-click the game name again and select "Download and Install."
