1
Make sure the water cooler is situated at least four inches away from the wall to allow the condenser to get enough air circulation. Check the condenser for lint and dirt. If present, clean out the condenser.
-
2
Ensure that the wall cord's wires are connected to the two cold thermostat power terminals if the compressor on your water cooler stops running. Check for loose wires in the compressor.

3
Look for signs of oil in the cooler. This likely indicates a loss of freon and means there is a leak. You'll know this is the problem if the compressor is running, but the water isn't coming out cold.
-
4
Listen to the cooler. If it is loud, check the lines inside to see if they are vibrating. Secure them if necessary. The compressor's mount could also be the culprit. If it's loose, you can tighten it to silence the noise.

5
Check the hot and cold control lines if you aren't getting temperature controlled water. If you see any frost, it may be frozen over and will have to be replaced. Be sure there are no blockages in the lines.

Send the cooler to a service center if the problem isn't an easy fix. They will be able to repair it or send you a new one if necessary.
