How to Troubleshoot a SMART Notebook
A SMART notebook is a laptop computer running the SMART Technologies application software. The application allows the notebook to interface with SMART Technologies SMART Board, create, save and manipulate data. Troubleshooting SMART Technologies software is reasonably straightforward because most problems involve communication issues between the notebook and the SMART Board itself.

1
Run another application that you know is correctly installed to check if your laptop operates correctly. If the problem still occurs, the problem is with the notebook. Troubleshoot and resolve the specific notebook problem.
-
2
Restart your notebook. Click "Start" and the "SMART Technologies" icon that is on your desktop or taskbar. If the application fails to load, read the system requirements for the SMART Notebook software version you run. You will find the requirements in the literature shipped with your Installation CD. Alternatively, you can also find system requirements on the SMART Technologies website or in "Help" on the application menu bar. Type the name and number of the version you run in the "Search" feature on the website. Follow all on-screen prompts for the installation of the application. You will see the system requirements on the download page. If your laptop does not meet the minimum requirements, download SMART Notebook software to a more powerful laptop.
