How to Make a Data Transfer Between USB Drives Faster
Transferring data between USB drives and hard drives can be slowed down because your computer is trying to accomplish many tasks at once. When this happens, it's best to assign your computer certain tasks and not overload it by plugging in many USB devices at once. You can optimize the speed by enabling the cache writing in your computer, which tell your computer that transfer speed is a priority for you.

1
Connect webcams and external hard drives directly to the main board USB port and lower-end devices such as memory cards and mp3 players to the USB hub. This is because hubs tend to divide bandwidth between all connected devices and this could result in a slow transfer.
-
2
Use a high-quality cable to improve the quality of transfer between your USB transfer. A poor quality cable may not transfer at the speed that a high-quality one will. Be sure to select a cable that is less than 7 feet long.

3
Disconnect other devices, such as webcams or your mouse while you are transferring data to a USB flash drive or external hard drive. The USB hub will delay transfer if several devices are plugged in because it shares and divides the bandwidth between all devices.
-
4
Enable the writing cache on the disk by clicking the "Start" button and selecting "Control Panel."
-
5
Click "System and Security" and select "Device Manager." Under the "User Account Control (UAC)" dialog, click "Yes." Open the "Disk Drive" and right click the "USB Storage" disk drive and select "Properties."
-
6
Open the "Policies" tab, select the radio button for "Better Performance" and click "OK."
