How to Record Audio From the Internet Without a Mic

Third-party applications may be used to record Internet streams.

Today's computer systems offer many entertainment options, including the ability listen to music, audio books, and other clips over the Internet. You may wish to capture the audio from these clips to play on your computer or to transfer, for example, to an MP3 player or iPod. Several third-party applications may be installed that allow you to record and save audio from various Internet sources.

Instructions

SoundCapture 1.1a

1. Download SoundCapture 1.1a from CNET.com.

2. Click "Run" in the pop-up window that appears to install the application on your computer.

3. Launch SoundCapture by clicking "Start," "All Programs," and clicking "SoundCapture 1.1a."

4. Open a Web browser and locate the audio clip that you wish to record.

5. Click "Play" on the website containing the audio to be recorded. Press "Record" in SoundCapture as quickly as possible. Press "Stop" when you have recorded your desired clip. The clip is automatically saved in the directory listed just above the SoundCapture logo.

6. Click the "Saved File Directory," button, which is the fifth button at the bottom of the SoundCapture window. Locate the recorded file and double-click to open it.

Free Easy MP3 Sound Recorder

1. Download the "Free Easy MP3 Sound Recorder" from CNET.com.

2. Click "Run" in the pop-up window that appears to install the application on your computer.

3. Launch the program by clicking "Start," "All Programs," and clicking "Free Easy MP3 Sound Recorder."

4. Open a Web browser and locate the audio clip that you wish to record.

5. Select the audio format, select the "Save to location," and press "Start Recording."

6. Click "Play" on the website containing the audio to be recorded.

7. Click "Stop" when the recording is complete. Open the directory listed in the "Save to" section of Sounds Recorder.

Free Hi-Q Recorder 1.92

1. Download "Free Hi-Q Recorder 1.92" from CNET.com.

2. Click "Run" in the pop-up window that appears to install the application on your computer.

3. Launch the program by clicking "Start," "All Programs," and clicking "Free Hi-Q Recorder 1.92."

4. Open a Web browser and locate the audio clip that you wish to record.

5. Click "Options." Click "Select" to choose the location to download the audio file to. Click "OK."

6. Click "Play" on the website containing the audio to be recorded. Then, click "Record" in the audio recorder." Click "Stop" when the recording is complete.
