1
Trace the lampshade on a piece of poster board to create the pattern for the new lampshade. To do this, set the lampshade on its side and hold a marker down on the top edge that is touching the paper. Rotate the lampshade, tracing the top as you go. When you have the full top edge traced repeat the rotation, this time tracing the bottom side. Use a ruler to create the sides of the lampshade (connecting the top left side with the bottom left side and the top right side with the bottom right side).

2
Cut the pattern out with scissors. Lay your fabric of choice over the pattern and use sewing pins to secure the fabric around the edge of the pattern.

3
Carefully cut away all excess fabric from around the pattern. Remove the lampshade covering from the pattern by unpinning it.
-
4
Line the top edge of the old lampshade with hot glue. Line up the top edge of the fabric covering and slowly work your way around the lampshade, pressing the fabric down with a spoon so you don't burn your finger. Allow to dry completely.
-
5
Lift the bottom of the lampshade covering so you can apply a line of hot glue around the entire bottom edge. Press the fabric into the hot glue with the spoon, making sure to pull the fabric down so it is taught.
