Tire chains are not difficult to install.

Tire chains are one of the best ways to keep your 2002 Suburban from sliding in the snow. Just about anyone can install snow chains on a Suburban, but not everyone knows how to do it properly. The process for installing chains on one tire is going to be the same for all four tires. The time it takes depends on your experience.

Instructions

    • 1

Park the Chevy Suburban on flat, level ground in a well-lit area. Place the center of the tire chain over the top center of a tire. Make sure that the rear locking hook on the end of the tire chain is on the rear side of the tire. This hook should be marked with paint.

    • 2

Untwist any chain links that are tangled or overlapping. Adjust the tire chains so that all of the sections are even with each other.

    • 3

Connect the hook on the rear of the tire to the O-connector. Connect the front hook on the front of the tire chain to the chain tensioner and pull the metal arm back to lock the chain in place.
