How to Disable Blinking Text

Blinking text is an element in HTML that causes any text contained within the <blink> tags to blink on your browser screen. Many Web developers consider this effect antiquated, and Microsoft Internet Explorer no longer displays blinking text by default. But in Mozilla Firefox, blinking text is still displayed. You can disable it, however.

Instructions

    • 1

Double-click the Firefox icon to launch the Web browser.

    • 2

Type "about:config" into the address bar and press the "Enter" key.

    • 3

Type "browser.blink_allowed" into the filter bar now displayed under the address bar.

    • 4

Double-click on the "browser.blink_allowed" preference located under the "Preference Name" column. This changes the "Value" from true to false.

    • 5

Close Firefox. Reopen Firefox and view a page that contains blinking text to confirm that the preference is set to false.
