How to Access an iPod Touch Hard Drive

The iPod Touch not only works as a portable music player; you can also use it as a portable hard drive. Use your iPod Touch to transfer files between different computers, or use it to back up your personal data. The iPod Touch is now offered in with a variety of hard drives. You can use the iPod hard drive on any iPod Touch as removable media.

Instructions

1. Connect your iPod to the computer with the USB cable. iTunes should open automatically, start it manually if it does not.

2. Select "iPod" in the "Source" panel. Click on the "Summary" tab and select "Enable disk use." You can now access the iPod Touch hard drive.

3. Double-click on "My Computer" on your desktop; click on the iPod icon in the list of disk drives. Drag and drop the files that you want to add into the opened iPod folder.

4. Right-click on the iPod in the "My Computer" window, then select "Eject." Unplug the iPod.
