How to Make Internet Explorer 7 UK My Default Browser
Internet Explorer 7 made printing, zooming and organizing your favorite Web pages easier than IE's version 6. Internet Explorer has more recent versions than 7, but the U.K. version of IE 7 is still available. As with any other Internet browser, you can set IE 7 U.K. to be your default browser, meaning that any time you launch a Web page, whether from a shortcut on your desktop or from within another application, your computer will use IE 7 U.K. to open that page and begin your Internet browsing.
Instructions
-
Downloading IE 7 U.K.
-
1
Visit Microsoft.com in your current Web browser and look in the upper right-hand corner of the window. If it does not say "United Kingdom," click the link that says "Change."
-
2
Select "United Kingdom," and then click "Downloads."
-
-
3
Scroll down to the "Browse downloads" section, click on "Windows Internet Explorer" in the left menu and then select "Windows Internet Explorer for Windows XP" in the right menu.
-
4
Click the "Download now" link, and then click the blue "Download" button. Save the file to a location on your computer that you can easily find, and open the file once the download is complete.
-
5
Follow all on-screen prompts to complete installation of the IE 7 software. If you are running a system newer than Windows XP, you can still download the program, but you may have to run it in compatibility mode.
-
6
Set compatibility mode for Windows Vista and 7 by clicking "All Programs" and then right-clicking "Windows Internet Explorer 7." Select "Properties," and then the "Compatibility" tab. Click inside the box that offers to run the program in compatibility mode for Windows XP Service Pack 3.
Setting IE 7 U.K. as Default
-
7
Launch Internet Explorer 7 by double-clicking the shortcut on your desktop or single-clicking the program icon in your programs menu.
