How to Forward to a Vonage Phone

How to Forward to a Vonage Phone thumbnail
VoIP enables the user to use a telephone through the Internet.

Vonage is a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system. The phone allows users to use their Internet connection as a phone line, which sometimes reduces long distance calling charges. Vonage offers its users many of the same features as traditional landline phone services, one of which is call forwarding. In the event the Vonage customer is away from home, phone calls may be forwarded to another telephone number, such as a mobile, so that no calls are missed.

Instructions

  1. Forwarding Calls From the Handset

    • 1

Pick up the handset of the phone that uses the Vonage service and dial *72 on the phone's keypad.

    • 2

Follow the prompts and enter the ten-digit phone number where calls are to be forwarded.

    • 3

Confirm the correct number was entered by pressing "1." If the number was incorrect, press "2," and reenter the phone number.

    • 4

Hang up the handset. Calls placed to the Vonage phone will now forward to the alternate number.

Forwarding Calls from the Online Account

    • 5

Log into the Vonage website and select "Call Forwarding" from the Dashboard.

    • 6

Choose the phone line that is to be forwarded from the drop-down box. Click "Configure," then "Basic Call Forwarding" from the Configure Call Forwarding section.

    • 7

Select the number of seconds the phone should ring before calls are forwarded. Enter the phone number where calls should be forwarded, then click "Enable."
