A Homemade Recipe for Hair Wax Removal
Hair waxing involves spreading a hot, sticky substance on the skin, then quickly tearing that substance away. The wax adheres to any hair that it touches, and when it is ripped away, the hairs come with it. Salons offer the service for a price, but you can create a hair-wax removal system at home that will create the same results you would get from a professional. Does this Spark an idea?

To test the temperature, place a dab of the mixture on your fingertip by using a butter knife. The mixture should feel warm but not scalding. Alternatively, dip the tip of a meat thermometer into the mixture to test the temperature. It should read between 115 and 130 degrees Fahrenheit.

Dip the butter knife into the mixture and spread approximately a 1/4-inch-thick layer on your skin where you want to remove the hair. Spread the mixture with the grain of the hair, not against it.

Press a strip of cotton cloth to the wax, then quickly rip the cloth away, going against the grain of the hair growth.

Tips & Warnings
Briefly apply ice to the newly waxed area to help soothe the "burn" and close the pores.
If the wax mixture contains visible sugar particles once it cools, you'll have to re-heat it to dissolve all the sugar. Undissolved sugar will limit the mixture's ability to remove hair.
