How do I Play DVD on HDTV?

Watch DVD movies on a high definition television.

High definition televisions have multiple connection ports, allowing you to hook up just about any audio/video device to the TV. This includes a DVD player, if you haven't yet upgraded to the Blu-ray format. Although DVDs are not going to be displayed in high definition, the image quality is slightly better than what you'll typically find on a standard definition television. This is because the image resolution of a DVD is a higher quality than what an older SDTV can reproduce.

Instructions

1. Plug the component video cables into the "Component Out" video ports on the rear of the DVD player.

2. Insert the other end of the component cables into the "Component In" connection port on the HDTV.

3. Connect the RCA audio cables into the RCA "Audio Out" connection ports on the DVD player. Plug the other ends of the cables into the "Audio In" ports on the HDTV.

4. Power on the TV and the DVD player. Select "Input," followed by "Component" and the DVD contents now appear on the HDTV's screen.
