How to Turn Off the Junk Mail Filter

How to Turn Off the Junk Mail Filter thumbnail
Junk mail can land in your email account.

Email is today's electronic version of mail delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. Instead of colorful paper advertisements, promotional information for products and services for sale is being sent directly to your email in-box. Some people enjoy reading unsolicited email and do not want it automatically labeled as junk email. To direct all email to your in-box, you use the "Settings" or "Options" feature within your email program to establish or turn off filters and blocking systems.

Instructions

    • 1

      Open email in-box.

    • 2

Click the "Settings" tab if using Yahoo, AOL or Gmail and a drop-down menu will appear. Click the "Options" tab if using Hotmail and a drop-down menu will appear; select "More Options."

    • 3

Click "Filters" if using Yahoo, AOL or Gmail. Click "Junk Email" if using Hotmail, and select "Filters and Reporting."

    • 4

Delete any existing filters that restrict incoming email if using Yahoo, AOL, or Gmail. Unclick the "Standard" button if using Hotmail.

    • 5

Click the "Save" tab and return to in-box.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always use caution when opening unsolicited email. These are the primary carriers of computer spyware and viruses.
