How to Boot Into a Recovery Partition on a Dell Inspiron
Booting your Dell Inspiron into the recovery partition will let you restore your laptop to its original factory settings. Dell Inspiron computers are equipped with Dell DataSafe 2.0, this is the program that will help restore the computer to factory settings without erasing your personal data and files.

Power down your computer. After the computer has turned off, power it back on. As soon as the Dell logo appears on your screen, press “F8.”

Navigate to the “Advance Boot Options” menu. Use the arrow keys to select “Repair Your Computer” and press “Enter.”

Press “Next,” enter the administrator login information. This is the information you provided when you set up the computer after purchase.

Select “Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe Options.” Follow the prompts in the recovery partition.

Dell DataSafe is standard on all Inspirons manufactured after April 22, 2009.
