How to Enable Java Language in Your Current Browser

Websites often use Java applets written in Java programming language to run interactive elements like games. The plug-in Java Runtime Evironment must be installed and enabled in your browser in order to run the Java applets. You can download the JRE plug-in free at the Java website. If Java applets aren't working as you browse the Web, Java may be disabled in your web browser and you need to manually enable it.

      Check the box for the Java version in the Advanced tab.

      Select "Custom Level" in the Security tab.

      Click "Enable" next to Scripting of Java applets.

      Select "Add-ons."

      Click "Java Plug-In" in the Plug-ins tab.

      Click "Enable."

      Select "Preferences."

      Click "Certificates" under Advanced.

      Check "Enable Java" and "Enable Java Plug-in."

      Click "OK."

Tips & Warnings

  • Opera uses an embedded version of Java and does not support the Java plug-in.
