The best method for displaying and transporting jewelry depends on its value and type--rings, earrings, necklaces or bracelets. Designer jewelry or fine jewelry made of diamonds, emeralds, rubies or sapphires, for instance, should be individually boxed to protect the piece and for favorable showing. Less expensive jewelry can be packed and displayed more casually. Million-dollar jewelry collections being transported on your person would require one or more armed guards to protect you while moving the jewelry collection. Check for business insurance requirements, if any. Otherwise, you would carry the jewelry in the most unobtrusive manner possible to avoid robbery.
Jewelry by Type--Rings, Earrings, Necklaces and Bracelets
Package fine jewelry rings in a ring box with one or more ring slots holding the ring(s) in place while being transported. The ring box serves as an elegant display case for the rings. Less expensive rings without factory packaging can be dropped into tiny clear plastic bags and displayed on a jewelry cloth or pad; you can also settle them into slotted foam ring trays for transport and display.
Protect and show fine jewelry earrings in separate earring boxes which prevent the earrings from brushing against each other or getting crushed. Earrings damage easily when transported on earring cards, so place each pair in a small, labeled plastic bag instead. Unbag earrings at your destination and show them using a portable earring display.
Secure necklace(s) or chains behind snaps using jewelry rolls or travel pouches. Box or roll the jewelry into a tight package to avoid further jostling. Jewelry rolls or travel pouches can be viewed in many varieties on alibaba.com. They show beautifully when unfolded before your customer. Or, for better jewelry, you could use individual necklace boxes with slots to hold the chain in place.
Fine jewelry bracelets travel just one way--in a box that secures the bracelet from sliding (see photo). The exception would be cuff bracelets which need to be bagged and tagged or securely boxed individually for their protection during transport. Show bracelets on a jewelry cloth or on a portable bracelet display rack.
