How to Make a Win XP Recovery CD

Creating a recovery CD for your Windows XP computer will enable you to restore your computer's settings and important files in the event of major computer problems. This is especially useful if your computer is ever affected by viruses, malware and other issues, since you will always be able to revert the computer to a working condition. Accomplish this by creating a working backup of the XP computer with the Backup tool in the operating system.

• Blank CD

1. Click "Start," "Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools," and click "Backup."

2. Select "Back up files and settings" and choose "All information on this computer."

3. Select the Desktop as the location to store your backup and click "Finish" to create the file.

4. Insert the blank CD and select "Open writable folder." You will need to have a PC that has the capable of copying information onto a CD format.

5. Drag and drop the backup file to the writable CD folder and press "Burn" to create your recovery disk.
