How to Reinstall iChat
iChat is an instant messaging program developed by Apple for its Mac OS X operating system. iChat allows you to have text, voice and video conversations with other iChat users. iChat requires an account with an iChat-compatible account service such as Google Talk, Jabber, or .Mac. iChat comes installed on all Mac computers and is preloaded into the Applications folder on your computer. If you have accidentally uninstalled iChat or the program has become corrupt, you can reinstall it using the installation disc that came with your Mac computer.

Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD into your disc drive.

Double-click "Optional Installs.mpkg" to launch the optional components for the operating system.

Click the arrow next to "Applications," and select "iChat" from the list.

Click "OK" and then "Install" to reinstall iChat to your Mac computer.

Eject the Mac OS X Install DVD once the package install is complete. You will now find iChat located in the "Applications" folder.
